Introduction of Taiwan Cancer Society |
Cancer has been the top of ten leading causes of death in the past few decades. Although the medical technology for cancer treatment continues to improve, destruction of ecological environment and widely use of chemicals urges the increase of cancer occurrence rate.
Cancer is a complex disease that is difficult to cure completely. However, if we could have done the prevention work beforehand, with early detection and appropriate treatment, it can still be cured.
In order to establish and raise the public consciousness towards the concept of cancer prevention, “Republic of China Cancer Society” was founded by Dr. Wu Ji-Fu in 1973 with passion and supports from medical profession and business community.
“Republic of China Cancer Society” was renamed as “Taiwan Cancer Society” at the second member’s meeting of 10th society council. The change was reported and approved by the Ministry of Interior and was effective since 15 January 2013.
Founded for over forty years, “Taiwan Cancer Society” kept progressing and expanding services towards public. Despite the dedicated work from supervisors and staffs, supports and encouragement from public were crucial factors to our growth. Now, we invited you to join our work. Together we can implement the concept of cancer prevention into each family and carry it out in our daily life.

⊙Gather and integrate information from all over the world, strengthen the communication between local and overseas institution on cancer prevention knowledge.
- Activities and information exchange with UICC(Union for International Cancer Control) and ACS(American Cancer Society), create the information database of cancer prevention.
